Can somebody else order and pick up a key on my behalf?

Yes, an authorized representative or delegate may order and/or pick up a key on your behalf. The following documentation is required: original copy of vehicle registration, vehicle owner driver’s license, passport or identity card, and a signed and dated letter of authorization from the owner of the vehicle. In addition, if picking up a key, the authorized representative or delegate must also bring the vehicle into the dealership. 

Why do I need to provide documentation if my dealership knows me?

The process of ordering and synchronizing a new/replacement key must be documented in person with the proper paperwork, forms, and signatures. This process is in place to ensure customers as well as vehicle protection, safety, and security. 

If my key has stopped working, do I need to get a new one?

Not necessarily. You should always check the battery first. Call or visit your dealership for details on accessing/replacing the battery if necessary.

Why do I have to bring my vehicle in to pick up my new key?

The key has to be synchronized to the vehicle and checked for proper operation, and this must be conducted by a qualified technician at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership.
